As part of the <\/span>UC3M India Week<\/strong><\/a>, the <\/span>Shreyashee Nag Dance Company<\/strong> presents<\/span> “Migrating Roots, Returning Rhythms”<\/i><\/strong>, a street performance that will take place on <\/span>Friday, September 25, at 9:30 p.m.<\/strong>, at the <\/span>Plaza de la Cultura in Getafe<\/strong>, in front of the Federico Garc\u00eda Lorca Theater.
\n<\/span>The event is part of the QK Fest (Street Culture Festival) program and is organized in collaboration with the <\/span>Getafe City Council<\/b>, which is joining UC3M\u2019s India Week by inviting the city\u2019s residents to actively participate in this cultural program.
\n<\/span>Inspired by the works of <\/span>Rabindranath Tagore and Federico Garc\u00eda Lorca<\/strong>, this piece explores an encounter between East and West through dance, rhythm, and memory. The work evokes an emotional journey and pays tribute to those who have left their homeland behind, carrying with them a longing for home, the memory of their roots, and the search for new places where they can belong.
\n<\/span>On stage, rhythm becomes memory and dance becomes a physical narrative. Each step resonates with a life story, as the dancers\u2019 bodies navigate a labyrinth of emotions where the intimate becomes universal and movement becomes poetry.
\n<\/span>Created by choreographer and dancer <\/span>Shreyashee Nag<\/strong>,<\/strong> the piece brings together <\/span> Kathak<\/strong>, <\/span>contemporary dance<\/strong> , and <\/span>flamenco<\/strong> in a poetic dialogue between India and Spain. Drawing on the encounter between these artistic languages, the performance creates a shared space that builds bridges between cultures and celebrates diversity, identity, and shared memory.<\/span> <\/p>\n

About Shreyashee Nag<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shreyashee Nag is a choreographer and dancer born in India. Trained in Kathak dance, she has built a career marked by an exploration of her traditional roots and a dialogue with other performing arts, such as flamenco and contemporary dance. Her work explores the body\u2019s ability to tell stories, connect traditions, and open up new spaces for creation across cultures. In 2023, she was awarded the <\/span>Catalonia Critics\u2019 Prize <\/span> for her solo piece *Above <\/span>*.<\/span> <\/p>\n
