2C – Photographing the Invisible: Technique in the Service of Creativity

In order to “see,” we must turn off our gaze’s autopilot, question, rediscover, and open ourselves up to the poetic in order to capture its essence.
Location: Carlos III University of Madrid (Getafe Campus) Classroom to be confirmed.

Dates: February 11, 18, and 25; March 4, 11, 13 (Saturday, practice); and March 18, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., except for Saturday, March 13, which will be from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Credits: 1 ECTS Elective (Conditions – elective credit)

Program
  • The Camera as an Eye: Light, Time, and the Opening Up of the World
  • Mapping the Gaze: Language, Focus, and Inner Exposure
  • Practice I, experimenting with light: walking, trying things out, coming back with questions
  • Just Looking Isn’t Enough: Intuition, Silence, and Other Ways of Seeing. Answering Questions
  • The Image as an Echo: Thinking About Nature with Fresh Eyes
  • Exercise II: The Gesture and the Moment. Go out and listen with your camera.
  • What emerges: sharing perspectives, refining language. Pooling ideas, reviewing, reflecting, and offering feedback.

 

IMPORTANT: Participants must have a camera, preferably one with interchangeable lenses (SLR or mirrorless). It is also recommended that they bring lenses and other equipment such as tripods, filters, etc. If that weren’t possible, the phone’s camera would be used

Chus Recio Delgado

With more than 20 years of experience studying and practicing art and photography, she regularly collaborates with various NGOs on awareness-raising projects through her work. As a teacher, she instructs students on both photographic technique and how to develop their own unique perspective.
