As part of the UC3M India Week, choreographer and dancer Shreyashee Nag presents a short Kathak dance piece inspired by two of the greatest poets of Indian and Spanish culture: Rabindranath Tagore and Federico García Lorca.
The texts by both authors are transformed into movement and expression to create a dialogue between India and Spain through dance. The piece will also serve as an artistic introduction to the roundtable discussion on literature scheduled to follow.
About the Shreyashee Nag Dance Company
Nupura Dance – Shreyashee Nag Dance Company creates dance, music, and theater performances based on traditional elements reinterpreted from a contemporary perspective.
Its director, Shreyashee Nag, is an Indian choreographer and dancer trained in Kathak dance. Her work explores the roots of this tradition and takes them into new creative territories through dialogue with other performing arts, such as flamenco and contemporary dance.
Among her awards is the 2023 Catalonia Critics’ Award for her solo performance *Above* and the Blackboards Women Leadership Award.
