ORGANIZATION is an experimental applied research program launched by TBA21–Academy and the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum.
The initiative intertwines critical thinking, situated research, and speculative practices through case studies developed in partnership with cultural, academic, and civic organizations. The organization operates on the hypothesis that practices in which artists drive interdisciplinary projects can constitute a form of infrastructural activism, capable of going beyond critical reflection to trigger tangible processes of ecological restoration.
The program is structured around five case studies and a cross-cutting study module. For each case, interdisciplinary working groups will be formed, composed of experts and researchers selected through this international call for proposals. Each case will address specific contexts and themes, defined in collaboration with institutions that have the actual capacity to influence the issues raised.
The End of the Real: Building Tools to Navigate Reality in the Absence of a Common Truth. “Domestic Data Streamers” as an artistic accompaniment—pulso—presented by the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum in collaboration with the Complutense Observatory on Disinformation and Retina.
Planetary Theater of Tourism: Beyond the Performative Regimes of Unproductivity Grandeza Studio as an artistic accompaniment—“pulse”—facilitated by Casa Planas and La Casa de la Arquitectura, in collaboration with CRIGUST – Critical Geographies of Urbanization, Sustainability, and Touristification, University of the Balearic Islands; partner organization: Cultura Inquieta.
Last Resorts: How Climate Imaginaries Come to Matter, featuring Gary Zhexi Zhang as an artistic collaborator –pulso–, presented by BC3 Basque Centre for Climate Change, in partnership with Critical Playground.
Premium Stuff: Ecologies of Storage and the Chronology of Conservation by Andrea Muniáin as an artistic accompaniment—“pulse”—facilitated by TBA21 in collaboration with Hangar, a production and research center; associated media partner: Cultura Inquieta.
Florestania: Community Governance Systems for Territorial Redress; Paulo Tavares as artistic collaborator –pulso– facilitated by the María José Jove Foundation Art Center in collaboration with the RIA Foundation and the Montescola Foundation; partner: Critical Playground.
