15th UC3M National Debate Tournament

The UC3M National Debate Tournament is an intellectual competition featuring team-based dialectical debate, with successive speeches by each speaker (similar to a parliamentary debate), in which each team defends a position assigned by lottery on a controversial and current topic.

In recent years, Carlos III University of Madrid has established itself as a leader in the debate community in our country, thanks to the high level of performance demonstrated by our teams in competitions, as well as the meticulous organization of our national debate tournament. This academic year, we will hold the 15th UC3M National Debate Tournament on March 20 and 21, 2025, at the campus located in Puerta de Toledo, Madrid.

  • The registration period runs from February 17 to March 9. Registration is closed because all team slots have been filled.
  • The league will be held with a minimum of 8 teams and a maximum of 16.
  • To participate, you must pay the fee (€150) through the online registration system.

Would you like to help organize a nationally recognized event being held at our university? The tournament will take place at the Puerta de Toledo Campus on March 20 and 21, 2025.

You can participate in one of the sessions we’ve organized (Thursday, the 20th, in the afternoon, or Friday, the 21st, in the morning or afternoon) or take part in the full experience, which allows you to earn one elective credit.

Please note that your shift would be during the following hours: Thursday, the 20th: 1:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Friday, the 21st: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. or 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Credit Recognition
: 1 elective credit.

  • Requirements: Actively participate in the assigned tasks on the days of the tournament: March 20 and 21.

Duties: setup; serving as floor managers for timing and rules enforcement; assisting the organizers as needed; transporting documents and materials; observing the debates.

Registration:
Important: If you want to enjoy the full experience and earn optional academic credit, be sure to register for the “Volunteering – Staff – Full” activity. If you can only commit to 1 or 2 shifts, choose the ones that fit your schedule.

  • Online Registration / debate club
  • At the Student Counseling Centers, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Monday and Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Sports Centers: Monday through Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Registration period: March 7 through March 18, 2025.
