Volunteering for UC3M Debate Tournaments

Would you like to help organize events with national reach that are held at our university? Here’s your chance. The board of directors of the Debate Society, with the support of the University, is organizing two events of great interest and prestige.

Dates
  • UC3M High School Debate Tournament, February 4 and 5, 2027, at the Getafe Campus
  • UC3m National Debate Tournament, April 8 and 9, 2027, at the Puerta de Toledo Campus.
Features

Transportation of documentation and materials; floor managers responsible for monitoring stopwatches and enforcing rules; setting up and taking down the various spaces used; and providing support to the organizers as needed to ensure the smooth running of the event.

Registration

To participate as a volunteer, you must complete a training session beforehand (a 1-hour session; the date and time will be determined by the Debate Committee based on the list of registered participants) and sign up for one or more of the following shifts:

Middle School Tournament. Getafe Campus:

  • Session 1: Thursday, February 5, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Session 2: Thursday, February 5, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Session 3: Friday, February 6, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

National Debate Tournament. Puerta de Toledo Campus:

  • Session 4: Thursday, April 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Session 5: Thursday, April 8, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Session 6: Friday, April 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Session 7: Friday, April 9, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

If you want to receive credit for an elective course , these are the requirements:

  • Training
  • Registration and active participation in at least 4 of the sessions offered.

Registration Location and Deadline

  • The application period will run from October 1, 2026, to March 30, 2027
  • Online Registration / debate club
  • At the Student Advising Centers: Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Monday and Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Sports Centers: MMonday through Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
